JUAN ALTAMIRAS WALK: EXPLORING THE OLD TOWN, LA ALMUNIA DE DOÑA GODINA
La Almunia de Doña Godina, the birthplace of Juan Altamiras, is developing a pilot project to map the town’s culture and offer walking routes for locals and visitors alike.
One will encourage people to explore the 18th-century town where Altamiras was born and grew up; another will take walkers to see the town’s network of irrigation channels and kitchen gardens (huertas), which date back to the Muslim centuries.
You can also link these walks to see how the Valdejalón’s ecosystem, terroir and local agriculture shaped Altamiras’s culinary repertoire.
